Updated: 2023-05-09 --- ## Tac Range Tac Range is the point when all fighters must have begun targeting, it is an SA call from the AIC to the fighters asking them to announce their targets or reminding them to start targeting if they have not. The tac range call is made when the closest group in the picture reaches tac range from the fighters. >[!example] Tac Range >“`[Callsign]`, `[group name]` `[range]` miles” >>[!quote] >>==AIC==: “Victory-1, east group 60 miles” ## Targeting Once the fighters have radar contact with the groups, they should begin targeting, this is the correlate/sort/meld process. Once each fighter has selected their targets, they will call this out to the AIC. >[!example] Targeting >“`[Callsign]`, targeted `[group name, BRAA or b/e]`” >>[!quote] >>`A/C`: “Victory-1, targeted east group” Targeting must be completed at or prior to meld range, if the AIC does not receive targeting from all fighters, they will issue directive targeting for any fighters without targets. (or if the fighter targeting is bad) >[!example] Directive Targeting >“`[Callsign]`, target `[group name, braa or b/e]`” >>[!quote] >>==AIC==: “Victory-1, target west group” Fighters can target multiple groups or they can break out the targeting within the flight. Which to do depends on the fighters game plan. >[!example] Directive Targeting Multiple Groups >Single flight targeting multiple groups >> [!quote] >> `A/C`: “Victory-1 targeted east group and west group” > >Single flight broken out targeting >>[!quote] >>`A/C 1`: “Victory-1-1 targeted east group” >>`A/C 2`: “Dash 2 targeted west group” > >Two flights targeting >>[!quote] >>`A/C 1`: “Victory-1 targeted west group” >>`A/C 2`: “Victory-2 targeted east group” If a fighter cannot locate a group to target it, they will call “clean” this will prompt an immediate BRAA call to the fighter with the group location or directive targeting to another group >[!example] > >[!quote] > >`A/C`: “Victory-1 clean east group” > >==AIC==: “Victory-1 east group BRAA 125/65 22k, hot, hostile flanker” > >Or >>[!quote] >> ==AIC==: “Victory-1 target west group” ## Post Targeting After all friendly aircraft have targeted, the AIC is only to talk in 5 situations until the commit is complete. 1. A threat call is required 2. A trespass call is required 3. Adjusting fighter flow 4. Any fighter requests any information 5. Targeting is no longer sound and directive targeting is required In addition, after targeting, the default format becomes tactical control in the BRAA format. ## Declare Call The declare call is made for each target after every fighter has targeted. It is a request from the fighter to correlate that the group they are looking at is in fact the group that they claimed to target, and a check as to that groups declaration. Declare may be omitted in order to maintain timeline. Declare is in b/e format unless the fighter uses BRAA in their declaration request. >[!example] >“`[Callsign]`, declare `[group name, braa or b/e]`” > >[!quote] >>`A/C`: “Closeout, Victory-1 Declare West group” >>==AIC==: “Closeout, west group, rock 270/45 22k track south, hostile, fishbed” > > >[!quote] >>`A/C`: “Closeout, Victory-1 declare group BRAA 062/72 22k” >>==AIC==: “Victory-1, east group BRAA 062/72 22k, hot, hostile, fulcrum” ## Employment After the declare call(s), fighters will employ on the groups they targeted. The number of ships employed upon is stated if more than one missile is employed, the group name is included unless the fox call is immediately after a declare. If the group name is unknown, a bullseye cut of the employed upon group can be used. >[!example] Employment >“`[callsign]` Fox `[#]`, (`[#]` ship), (`[group name]`)” >>[!quote] >>`A/C`: “Victory-1 fox 3” > >>[!quote] >>`A/C`: “Victory-1 fox 3, 2 ship, east group” > >>[!quote] >>`A/C`: “Victory-1 fox 3 rock 270/45” ## Timeout/Splash After a “Fox” call, next should be one of three calls by the fighter, a [[APPENDIX A - ALSSA BREVITY LIST#SPLASH(ED)|SPLASH]], [[APPENDIX A - ALSSA BREVITY LIST#TIMEOUT|TIMEOUT]] or [[APPENDIX A - ALSSA BREVITY LIST#TRASHED|TRASHED]] call. If a fighter sees the missile impact/a fireball they will call “Splash `[group name]`”, there is no response required from the AIC. If a fighter does not see the missile impact, but the missile timer reaches zero they will call “timeout `[group name]`” the AIC will check their scope, if they do not see the contact anymore, they will call “`[Callsign]`, `[group name]`, [[APPENDIX A - ALSSA BREVITY LIST#VANISHED|VANISHED]]” to indicate a probable kill. If the AIC does still sees the contact, the AIC will give directive targeting or flow directions. If a fighter has to abort the missile support prior to [[APPENDIX A - ALSSA BREVITY LIST#PITBULL|PITBULL]], they will call “trashed `[group name]`” so the AIC knows a group has become untargeted. # Timeline Example >[!example] >![[Pasted image 20230811212632.png]] >>[!Quote] Tac range: >>==AIC==: “Victory-1 east group 60 miles” > >>[!quote] Targeting: >>`A/C`: “Victory-1-1 targeted east group” >>`A/C`: “Dash-2 targeted west group” > >>[!quote] Declare: >>==A/C==: “Closeout, Victory-1 declare east group” >>==A/C==: “Closeout, east group rock 240/35, 22k, track south, hostile, flanker” > > ![[Pasted image 20230811212655.png]] >>[!quote] Employment: >>`A/C`: “Victory-1-1 fox 3, 2 ship, east group” >>`A/C`: “Victory-1-2 fox 3, west group” >>`A/C`: “Victory crank right” > >>[!quote] Timeout/Splash: >>`A/C`: “Victory-1, timeout 2 ship east group” > >_1 kill 1 miss_ >>[!quote] >>==AIC==: “Closeout, one contact vanished, Victory-1-1 Target East group BRAA 030/62, 22k, drag west, hostile flanker,” >>`A/C`: “Victory-1-2 Splash west group”
